Sykes Hot Springs

Sykes consists of three hot pools on the south bank of the Big Sur River, 10 miles up the Pine Ridge Trail. Backpacking campsite permits available near the trailhead at Big Sur Station Park, Highway 1, Big Sur, 667-2315.

Tassajara Hot Springs

The winding dirt road out to Tassajara might discourage all but the most adventurous, but this historic hot springs set in the Los Padres National Forest is well worth the trip. Operated by the Zen Center of San Francisco, the retreat is approximately 15 miles off Carmel Valley Road. 39171 Tassajara Rd., Carmel Valley. Make reservations in advance, (415) 865-1899.
